Explore the East Coast with us this spring on a dementia-friendly cruise and caregiver retreat! We’ll kick off the trip with a stop in Martha’s Vineyard before enjoying overnight stays in historic Charleston and beautiful Bermuda so travelers have plenty of time to truly get to know these dream destinations. This voyage is fully accessible, dementia-friendly, offers supported travel options for seniors, can include special family rates for additional travelers in your group, and offers daily caregiver respite sessions.
Where We’re Taking You
Pre-cruise: Start your vacation early with a pre-cruise group hotel stay! The Elite Cruises staff will meet you at Newark EWR airport and escort you to our group hotel where you’ll have a chance to relax after traveling and get to know our other travelers. Transportation to the cruise port on embarkation day is included with cost of hotel stay.
May 8: Welcome aboard the Celebrity Silhouette. On day 1 of our voyage we’ll board our vessel as a group and all travelers will be escorted to their cabins by an Elite Cruises staff member. After unpacking and getting settled it’s time for a night out with a group dinner followed by enjoying one of the many entertainment venues on board.
May 9: Our adventures begin with a full day on Martha’s Vineyard and there’s something for everyone: visit a historic lighthouse, awake your inner foodie by tasting all the fresh seafood, or spend the day soaking up some sun on the beach. Whatever you choose to do keep your camera ready because everything on this charming little island is picture perfect!
May 10: This day at sea features programs exclusively for our group with workshops and conferences for caregivers as well as respite/adult daycare where our staff takes over so caregivers can take the break they deserve. Respite activities can include music therapy, art, games, puzzles, movies, and more. Tell us what activities your loved ones enjoy and we’ll make it happen! Our supported cruises are fully customizable so every member of your family gets to do something they enjoy and have a true vacation.
May 11: We arrive in historic Charleston, SC in the late morning and get to enjoy an overnight stay in this picturesque city. That leaves plenty of time here to pack in all the activities you could dream of, such as dolphin cruises, carriage rides, historic plantation visits, and even ghost tours!
May 12: This morning gives us another opportunity to explore Charleston before we’re back on the ship for an afternoon departure. Keep an eye open for dolphins as we move away from the coast and head east towards beautiful Bermuda!
May 13: This day at sea gives us another chance to host programming for caregivers while the Elite Cruises staff takes over caring for their loved ones. Caregivers can practice some self-care at one of the hot tubs onboard or at an afternoon wine tasting and if you need us we’ll be in our conference room for caregiver respite where your loved ones will be having a blast playing games, listening to favorite music, and doing puzzles with the Elite Cruises staff.
May 14-16: Our ship docks at Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda for two nights and we cannot wait to see everything this island has to offer. We’re looking forward to pink sand beaches, learning about the history of the island, discovering the cuisine, tasting some rums, and maybe if we’re feeling adventurous going on a snorkeling expedition!
May 17: Today gives us one last chance to spend time with all our new friends and take advantage of all the ship amenities. We’re not leaving this cruise without playing a game of croquet on the ship’s lawn or spending some time relaxing in the adults-only Solarium!
May 18: It’s time to depart our ship but if you’re not quite ready to go home yet join us on for another group hotel stay. We’d love to give you some recommendations for activities in the NYC area, especially Broadway shows!

- 2 hour daily caregiver break time (respite/adult daycare)
- All-inclusive cruise which includes onboard dining, beverage package, and WiFi
- Group accompanied by medical professionals, including RN support 24/7, as well as trained support staff. Staff to client ratio is 1:3.

Wheelchair accessible and mobility accessible staterooms are available on a first come first serve basis. All cabins on the ship can be retrofitted to be accessible with elevated toilet seats, shower chairs, and detachable shower heads at no additional cost. Arrangements can be made to rent assistive devices such as manual wheelchairs, scooters, power wheelchairs, etc. if you are not traveling with your own.

Caregiver Conferences & Support
Connect with other caregivers on our cruises and find the support you need with caregiver circles and educational seminars on caregiving managing, self care, diagnosis/prognosis, and neuroplasticity concepts and activities. These sessions are exclusively for our group and feature new guest speakers on each voyage as well as our team of professionals including Elite Cruises owner Kathy, a geriatric neurology nurse with adaptive technology certification. Additionally get the time to regroup, relax, and recharge with daily two hour respite sessions where our team will take over your caregiving duties and you have the break you deserve.

Create lifelong memories with all generations of your family on the Celebrity Silhouette. Younger family members will enjoy dedicated activities and entertainment at Camp at Sea while adults enjoy the spa, casino, and adults-only Solarium. All generations can come together for some fun at the main pool or to watch a movie under the stars on the lawn.
