Antique Autos & Alaskan Adventures

Antique Autos & Alaskan Adventures
2024 Memories

Elite Cruises Car Club Picnic

Our adventures started right away in Vancouver when we were picked up in antique autos and taken on a tour before enjoying a picnic with all our new friends. We also got to visit a restoration workshop with several notable works in progress. Maybe when we return in 2025 we’ll be able to go for a ride!

Fountainhead Museum Curator

In Fairbanks we visited the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum and met the museum owner Tim Cerny and the museum curator Willy Vinton before having free reign to look at their incredible collection. We could have spent an entire week here and still noticed incredible details that we managed to miss the first time around.

Elite Cruises Antique Autos

We each left Alaska dreaming about our favorite cars and already planning on visiting them again next year. Some particularly notable ones were the 1912 Premier Model 6-60, the 1907 Cartercar, and the 1912 American Underslung “America’s first sports car”.

Elite Cruises Glacier Bay

Cars weren’t the only thing on display this trip! Alaska was showing off her beauty and no where was a better example than Glacier Bay. We had some incredible views from the bow of the ship while drifting through this national park and throughout the day we couldn’t resist stepping outside on deck to capture more photos that don’t do the beauty of this place justice.

Elite Cruises Glass Dome

While we love traveling by ship we fell in love with train travel through Alaska. The views from our glass dome train rivaled the views in Glacier Bay and we found ourselves traveling almost in stunned silence for stretches. It was such an incredible way to travel to Denali for a stay inside the park!

Elite Cruises Night At The Chalet

Our travelers had a two night stay in Denali and our chalet was the perfect getaway. We saw all sorts of animals on a wilderness tour, including caribou, and loved gathering at the end of the day for music and cocktails around the fire to recap everything we experienced that day. If we hadn’t saved the Fountainhead Museum for our last stop our travelers wouldn’t have wanted to leave this incredible hotel.

Where We’re Taking You

Whale Ship Husky

Day 1: Vancouver:
Travel to Vancouver, Canada for a one night stay at the luxurious Fairmont. Our group of antique auto afficionados will become fast friends before we begin our Alaskan Adventure in the morning.

Day 2: Vancouver: Embark Holland America Line’s Signature Class ship the Nieuw Amsterdam. Once settled in we’ll wave goodbye to land and have a little happy hour gathering to get the party started. Beverages are included on this all-inclusive cruise so you’ll enjoy cocktails, mocktails, and more on this Elite voyage.

Day 3: Inside Passage: Start watching for wildlife as we wind our way through the islands and fjords of the Inside Passage. Today is all about relaxing so treat yourself to a wine tasting, take a soak in the hydrotherapy pool, or visit the casino onboard and enjoy all the amenities our ship has to offer.

Day 4: Ketchikan: Ketchikan is one of our favorite stops in Alaska because it has something for everyone. Take a tour of the colorful town, create a crab tower, or go on a fishing excursion, whatever you choose to do here we know it will be memorable thanks to the spectacular scenery.

Day 5: Juneau: We love whale watching expeditions whenever we are in Juneau; we always get some great views of whales, seals, and other local wildlife and occasionally we’ll even get splashed a little when the whales are feeling extra playful! Or head inland to meet some sled dogs and their puppies before taking a tour through the stunning Alaskan wilderness.

Day 6: Skagway: Skagway offers up a full day of adventure and we cannot imagine a better way to spend it than taking the White Pass Train into the Canadian Yukon. No matter how you choose to spend your day though the natural beauty of Alaska will leave you in awe by the time you depart.

Day 7: Glacier Bay: Keep your cameras ready because Glacier Bay is the real show stopper of any Alaska cruise; everywhere you go around the ship will have jaw dropping views. Don’t forget to take advantage of the hot tub on the upper deck because when else will you get the opportunity to relax in the steamy water while surrounded by glaciers?

Day 8: College Fjord: When cruising through College Fjord we’ll be surrounded by snow capped mountains and dozens of glaciers, most of which are named after East Coast colleges. Keep an eye out of the largest, Harvard Glacier, while enjoying coffee or hot cocoa on the balcony of your cabin. Spend the day enjoying the ship’s amenities before moving on to the second leg of our adventure in the morning.

Alaska Train Alaska Museum Antique Moose Walking

Day 9: Whittier:
We’ll depart our ship in Whitter and begin our adventures across the land via glass dome train cars on the McKinley Express. We’ll make our way into Denali National Park where we’ll spend two nights at the McKinley Chalet.

Day 10: Denali National Park: Get ready for adventure because we’re going on a tundra wilderness tour! Keep an eye out for bears, moose, and more while our tour bus takes us to picturesque spots for photos on Cathedral Mountain or by East Fork River.

Day 11: Fairbanks: We’ll depart Denali by luxury coach and take that to our final destination of Fairbanks; here we’ll spend three nights at the West Mark Hotel which is connected to Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum, giving you easy access to their collection featuring some of the rarest cars in the world. In the evening you’re invited to a traditional Salmon Bake (meal not included in travel plan as costs may fluctuate) at Pioneer Park where Alaskan history comes alive.

Day 12: Fairbanks: Spend some time at the museum before we venture out on a paddlewheel boat cruise on the Chena River. This tour showcases the beauty of Alaska alongside its history and is something every member of your family will look forward to.

Day 13: Fairbanks: Your last day in Alaska is entirely up to you. If you’re looking for more adventure you can take a tour to the Arctic Circle or visit a mining museum, or just spend the day taking one last look at your favorite cars from the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum.

Day 14: Depart Fairbanks for home or take advantage of our optional trip extension that takes you to Tacoma, WA for a visit to America’s Car Museum. Ask us about airfare, hotels, activities, and more to keep the fun going when you extend your travel with us!
